A successor agent is your backup — the person who steps in if your first-choice agent is unavailable, unwilling, or has passed away. It's one of the simplest additions to a document, and one of the most commonly skipped.
Why solo agers need this more than most
Without a large family to draw from, your pool of potential agents may already be small. If your single named agent becomes unavailable with no successor named, you're back to square one — potentially during a crisis, when there's no time to execute new documents.
You can name more than one successor, in order of priority — first, second, even third choice — giving your plan real redundancy.
